Artists’ Books: Sewn Over Raised Cords

A creative display of an open book resembling a nautilus shell, resting on a plain surface against a black background.

An artist’s book is a medium of expression in which the book format – its structure, sequence, binding and tactile, interactive nature – is the art work itself. It can contain text and images or not. These books are often produced as limited-editions, or unique, handmade, and sometimes sculptural, pieces which blur the line between art object and publication. The artists’ book workshop is aimed at beginners who have an idea, which they would like to present in a manner inspired by the book form, but who could do with some technical help making their ideas a reality.  Unlike the other workshops, this one requires prior discussion of your aims so that we can hone in on appropriate techniques. The length of the workshop depends on what you want to achieve. All materials are included in the cost.   Lunch is included as part of all full days of tuition. These books are for bibliophiles and a lot of fun to make.
